ButterflyMX Background
As many of you are aware, the CDD Board has approved the transition from Envera to ButterflyMX for our community access control and security system.
We understand that any change involving community security and access can create questions and concerns, and we want residents to know that this decision was made only after significant research, review, and due diligence by the Board.
The Board’s responsibility is to continually evaluate vendors, technology, service levels, and long-term financial impact to ensure the community is receiving the best overall value and protection possible.
As part of this process:
· The Board evaluated multiple security and access control options before making a final decision.
· In addition to reviewing Envera and ButterflyMX, we also reached out to and met with three additional security/access control vendors to review their offerings, capabilities, support structures, and long-term operational considerations.
· Three members of the CDD Board personally visited other communities within Sarasota County that had previously transitioned from Envera to ButterflyMX.
· During those visits, Board members spoke directly with representatives and residents regarding their real-world experiences after implementation.
· The feedback from those communities was overwhelmingly positive. Those communities expressed strong satisfaction with the transition process, the technology, and the overall functionality of the system. Several specifically encouraged us to move forward based on their own successful experiences.
In addition to the improvements in operational and technology, the financial impact to the community was also an important consideration.
The transition is projected to save the community approximately $175,000 over a five-year period, even before considering the annual escalation increases associated with the current system. Another significant benefit is that the community will own the hardware under the new system rather than continuing to lease equipment, creating long-term value and greater control over our infrastructure moving forward.
We want to emphasize that the goal of this transition is not to reduce security. Security remains a top priority for the Board. The goal is to modernize the technology, improve operational flexibility, enhance resident convenience, and provide long-term value to the community while maintaining strong access control standards.
We also understand that any technology transition may require an adjustment period. The Board and management team are committed to making the process as smooth as possible and will continue providing updates, instructions, and support throughout the implementation.
We appreciate everyone’s patience, understanding, and feedback as we move through this transition together.
